When Zack actually answers the call and Micchi hears his voice suddenly he doesn't know what to say. The dynamic between them now is nothing like it used to be; now Zack does all the talking and Micchi just shuts it out until he can't anymore and has to walk away.
He wants to be around the people he loves, but he doesn't deserve to be. He doesn't deserve niisan back, or to have been smiled at by niisan like that, like niisan felt at home to see Micchi. He doesn't deserve Zack's persistence, or caring.
Zack isn't desperate, though. He's never been like that. He's confident. If he'd been pushy and demanding Micchi would've run further away. As it is, he eventually finds his voice enough to say, "something... good happened?"
And his voice does sound just as mystified as he feels. Something good, happening to him? That doesn't seem right either.
